City Eats $100k Svoboda Owes

After receiving more than $300,000 in contracts from the City of Lincoln, Ken Svoboda got out of paying more than $100,000 in fines and damages he owed as a result of not fulfilling his obligations.

In April 2007, Mayor Seng gave Svoboda's company, Ray's Lawn Care, an extension to complete his contract to landscape city medians. She also waived more than $100,000 in damages but required Ray's to obtain a $75,000 letter of credit to insure against further defaulting of the contract.
